Tert-Butyl Peroxybenzoate ( TBPB )
Tert-Butyl Peroxybenzoate
Description:
Cas No: 614-45-9
Formula : C6H5 -COOOC-(CH3)3
Molecular : Wt 194.2
Oxygen Content : 8.24 % Of Peroxide
Other Name : Tert-butyl Perbenzoate, T-butyl Ester Peroxybezoic
Peroxide Class : Peroxy Esters
Intended Use : Initiator For Unsaturated Polyester Resin.
APPLICATIONS
-
Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) is used for the curing of unsaturated polyster resins in the presence of cobalt octoate accelerator at room and elevated temperatures.
-
For room temperature application it is necessary to use MEKP togetherwith a cobalt accelerator (e.g.Accelerator).
-
This catalyst gives much faster gel time required for GRP pipe manufacturing.
SAFETY AND HANDLING
-
Rotate stock using the oldest material first. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use Personal Protective Equipment.
-
Keep containers closed to prevent contamination. Keep away from sources of heat, sparks or flame. Keep away from reducing agents (e.g. amines), acids, alkalies and heavy metal compounds (e.g. accelerators, driers, metal soaps).
-
Do not add to hot solvents or monomers as a violent decomposition and/or reaction may result. Keep in original container.
REQUEST INFORMATION
-
Due to relatively unstable nature of organic peroxides a loss of quantity can be detected over a period of time.
-
To minimize loss of quantity, we recommend storage temperature for TBPB between 20 –
25°C.

-
Organic peroxides are thermally unstable substances, which may undergo self-accelerating decomposition.
-
The lowest temperature at which self-accelerating decomposition of a substance in the original packaging may occur is the self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT).
-
The SADT of
